Our Summer Home Tour 2017: Blush, Greenery, and Simple Seasonal Style

Our Summer Home Tour 2017: A Fresh Take on Seasonal Styling

Kicking off the season with the annual Summer Home Tour hosted by Marty at A Stroll Thru Life is always a highlight. If you liked this posting and you would like to obtain extra facts pertaining to ``` kindly check out the internet site. For 2017, we’re opening the doors to our 1938 Denver cottage, where summer styling meets practical living. Whether you followed along from Christy’s beautiful home at Our Southern Home or are just joining, we welcome you to a space that balances vintage character with fresh, modern touches.

One of the simplest yet most effective updates for summer was in the living room, where we swapped out heavier artwork for lighter pieces and added lush greenery. The blush paint, a constant source of joy, works beautifully with the natural light that floods the space. To ground the room, we relied on a vintage campaign chest and a mix of pillows—including a bold zebra-print DIY creation and a blush number from Home Goods. The result is a space that feels relaxed, inviting, and perfectly in tune with the season.

Perhaps the most dramatic change for our Summer Home Tour 2017 is in the dining room. After living with a vibrant green paint for several years, we finally made the switch to Benjamin Moore’s Queen Anne—the same soft blush as the living room. The green, which once felt fun, began to read neon in the bright southern light, so this cohesive update was long overdue. Now, the room glows with a warm, rosy hue that enhances the natural wood tones of our Chippendale-style chairs, a Craigslist find that we’ve yet to decide whether to paint.

In the family room, summer updates were minimal but impactful. We swapped out heavier winter pillows for lighter, textural options—including a DIY zebra print that adds a playful, graphic punch. The blush pillows from Home Goods create a visual bridge to the rest of the home. Our trusty IKEA sectional and natural-fiber rug keep the room grounded and family-friendly, while the abundance of natural light makes it the perfect spot for lazy summer afternoons.

Throughout the house, you’ll notice a consistent thread: fresh greenery, natural textures, and a palette that revolves around soft blush, crisp white, and grounding neutrals. The cane chairs, the boxwood topiaries, and the abundance of houseplants all speak to a love of bringing the outdoors in. This summer, we’ve also focused on editing—removing clutter and letting a few key pieces shine, whether it’s a vintage mirror, a collection of blue-and-white china, or a sculptural lamp.

As we wrap up our portion of the tour, we want to extend a huge thank you to Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for orchestrating this wonderful event. It’s a joy to share our space alongside such talented bloggers. Next up is Haneen’s Haven—her work is full of energy and charm, so you won’t want to miss it. Until then, we hope you take away a little inspiration for your own summer home updates. Cheers to a season of beauty and relaxation!
